  • We are visitors from another parish down south. The music was amazing! Very joyful and uplifting. My husband said it brought tears to his eyes he was overcome by the Holy Spirit! Fantastic pianist! We really enjoyed it! My 12 year old son said he liked the "happy church". Congregation vey warm and friendly.

  • I am praying for Maggie Z who feels it's appropriate to criticize and critique a CHURCH! Seriously, who does that? Not very Christian of you. Do you really thing YOUR opinion is going to change how we do things here?

The choir was excellent and most of the Parish seems to participate in the singing. We visited during Independence Day and the patriotic music was beautiful. I will say that I prefer traditional hymns during mass, and they did sing those from a flyer, but the Ordinary was a very strange arrangement that made me feel like I was in a musical. The electric guitar accompanying the piano probably helped that effect. It was not at all familiar or comfortable.

Another strange feature that is not typical of Catholic Churches, was that we sang a song before the processional, a lecturer made some announcements (not in place of announcements after mass, but in addition to) then the priest appeared in the front isle to greet everyone asking where all of the visitors were from. Then he asked everyone to welcome each other by shaking hands. After all of that he returned to the back of the Church, and we sang the processional and mass proceeded as usual (mostly).

I love that most Churches have visiting priests from other countries to fill in where needed, but we did have a rough time understanding Father Kevin, especially during the Gospel and homily. I tried to concentrate, but I didn't catch most of what he said.

When we travel, we usually like to find historic, old Churches. This time they were a little farther away so we chose this parish for convenience. The building has a concrete block stamped 1977, and it is exactly that, a 70s modern style Church, not unlike our Church at home. It is constructed in a semi-circle with a vaulted dark wood ceiling with very simple and large, abstract stained glass walls. There is a lovely life-like crucifix behind the altar, but the tabernacle is not visible from both sides of the Church and the altar and ambo are a very plain granite slab.

With all that said the people did seem to be very friendly, welcoming and kid friendly.
